Sunway University College A-Level Scholarships 2011

The Sunway University College A-Level Scholarships 2011 is a scholarship programme dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in academia and extra-curricular activities (ECA). It is based on academic merits and ECA performance of students sitting for the 2010 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination. This is Sunway University College’s inaugural year in offering The Sunway University College A-Level Scholarships and we encourage potential applicants to be part of this momentous opportunity.

Eligibility
This scholarship is open to all Malaysian candidates sitting for the 2010 SPM examination. The following requirements must be met:

1. Results of 5As (combination of A- and above) in the school’s Form 5 mid-year examination.
2. Maintained a minimum of B in 5 of the following subjects (English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mathematics, 1 Science subject & 1 other academic subject) in Form 4 and Form 5 leading up to the mid-year examination.
3. Currently holds or have held positions of responsibility in school or in extra-curricular activities such as sports, societies, clubs or uniformed bodies. Competition winners at various levels are encouraged to apply.

Value of Scholarship
A scholarship award of RM8,000 or RM12,000 will be provided to successful applicants. The scholarship will be applicable as a tuition fee waiver in the January 2011 intake of the Cambridge GCE A-Level programme at Sunway University College.

Successful applicants of the Sunway University College A-Level Scholarships will be given further opportunity to upgrade their scholarship to a higher quantum based on the Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Jeffrey Cheah Entrance Scholarship upon the release of the actual Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results in March 2011. In addition, Sunway University College A-Level Scholarships scholars will have the opportunity to convert this scholarship into a full scholarship if they obtain a minimum of 3 full As and a minimum B for Thinking Skills in the Cambridge GCE A-Level examinations (this is applicable only to students who have not already converted their Sunway University College A-Level Scholarships to a full merit scholarship).

Successful applicants of the Sunway University College A-Level Scholarships will be eligible for further bursaries and scholarships at the degree level at Sunway University College. In addition, they will get to participate actively in The Oxford and Cambridge Society Malaysia’s annual event at Sunway University College. These extra-curricular activities are exclusively for Sunway University College A-Level Scholarships scholars only.
