MPOB Education Foundation Scholarship 2010

The MPOB Education Foundation Scholarship offers two postgraduate research scholarships for 2010/2011 at any university in United Kingdom (UK), United States of America (USA) or Australia recognized by the Public Service Department (PSD).

Established in 2000, MPOB (Malaysian Palm Oil Board) is a government agency under the purview of the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities, managing and planning the related developing schemes and administrative affairs. Since the establishment, MPOB has been looking for technology and IT products to increase the value, quality, and sales of palm oil.

• Bioinformatics
• Plant Pathology
• Bio-energy
• Development of New Catalyst, Organic
• Human Nutrition

Eligibility
The candidates must satisfy the following conditions :

• Be a Malaysian citizens.
• Age at enrollment below 30 years old.
• Have an offer to pursue full time post-graduate degree in the university in United Kingdom (UK), United States of America (USA) or Australia
• Has good command of english , minimum of 580 for TOEFL or IELTS 6.0 bands.
• For Masters, the applicants must obtain Bachelor's Degree with a first class or second class (upper division)  honours in the related discipline
• For PhD, the applicant must obtain good honours in Master's and Bachelor's Degrees in the same discipline.
• Research undertaken must be related to Oil Palm or Palm Oil and its products,and must be beneficial to MPOB.
• Complete studies in the following duration (maximum):
  • Master’s Degree – 2 years
  • PhD – 3 years

Value of Scholarship
The award is a FuLL contribution covering the costs of a SINGLE person's post-graduate study and living costs in the UK, USA or Australia.

Bonding
Successful candidates are required to sign a contract to work with MPOB upon completion of the programme.

The completed application form should be attached with the following

• Research project proposal
• Certified true copy of academic results (SPM, STPM, Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree and or Master’s Degree) and examination transcript.
• Letter of admission from the UK, US or Australia University
• Other supporting documents

The completed application form must reach MPOB HQ at the following address by 31 May 2010. “MPOB Education Foundation Scholarship Application” should be indicated on the top left hand corner of the envelope :

Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview in June 2010. Candidates who do not receive any reply within 3 months after the deadline will be considered unsuccessful.
