The Japanese Government Scholarships 2010 for Japanese Studies & Teacher Training

The Embassy of Japan is pleased to announce that the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho:MEXT) Scholarships for Japanese Studies and Teacher Training is now open for application until 2 March 2010. Qualified Malaysian nationals who would like to pursue their studies in Japan are invited to apply. During the term of scholarship, monthly allowances of approximately 125,000 yen (approx RM4,500) will be given to each Japanese Studies grantee, and 152,000 yen (approx RM5,472) to Teacher Training grantee (amount is subject to change). Fees for entrance examination, matriculation and tuition at universities will be exempted. A round-trip airplane ticket is also provided.

Requirements:
1. Japanese Studies (1-year non-degree course from October 2010)

  • Applicants must be between 18 and 29 years of age as of 1st April 2009 (born between 2nd April 1980 and 1st April 1992).
  • Applicants must be 2nd or 3rd year undergraduate students (must not be final year students) majoring in Japanese Language or Japanese Culture in universities and must be enrolled in the home country.
  • Applicants must have good command of Japanese Language.

2. Teacher Training (1 & ½ year non-degree course from October 2010)

  • Applicants must be under 35 years of age as of 1st April 2009 (born on or after 2nd April 1975)
  • Applicants must be graduates of universities or teacher training college who work as teachers in primary or secondary schools or as academic staff at TEACHER TRAINING INSTITUTIONS with at least 5-year experience in their terms of service.
  • Applicants must have good command of English language and are willing to learn Japanese language.
