Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho:MEXT) Scholarships for Undergraduate Studies
The Embassy of Japan is pleased to announce that the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho:MEXT) Scholarships for undergraduate studies is now open for Malaysian students who wish to study at Japanese universities as undergraduate students for the academic year 2011.
The Government of Japan offers the following scholarship programmes each year for Malaysian nationals to apply. Interested applicants are advised to read the guidelines carefully. Unless stated otherwise, scholarship applications should be made to the Embassy of Japan, Kuala Lumpur.

Eligibility

Be Malaysian citizens

Be from 17 to 22 years old as of 1st April, 2011

Have completed SPM / O-level with at 11 years of formal education (excluding remove class). STPM students (lower or upper) and those who will sit for A-Level, Diploma, UEC or Matriculation examination this year may also apply, provided that the results will be known by March 2011.

Get A (SPM / UEC / Matriculation) or B+ (STPM / A-Level) or CGPA 3.4 (Diploma) or A/LC(Matriculation)

English/MUET (5 or 6)

Be willing to learn the Japanese language and to receive university education in the Japanese language.
Value of Scholarship
Estimated monthly allowances of 125, 000 yen (subject to change) will be given to each grantee during the term of his / her scholarship. Fees for the entrance examination, matriculation and tuition at universities will be exempted.
How to Apply
- Download and complete the application form
- Attach a certified copy of SPM / O-Level or STPM+MUET or A-Level+MUET or UEC or Matriculation examination result (certified by issuer only) with the fully completed form. (Those who will sit for UEC examination this year, please attach a certified copy of Senior Middle 2 school examination results.)
- Submit the completed application together with required and relevant documents to:

50450 KUALA LUMPUR - Envelope containing application form must indicate “JAPANESE GOVERNMENT (MONBUKAGAKUSHO) SCHOLARSHIP – UNDERGRADUATE” on the top left-hand corner.
- Applicants must state very clearly either {Social Science & Humanities}, {Nature Science A} or {Nature Science B} on the top right-hand of the application form.
