The Italian Government Scholarship Program

The Italian Ministry of Foreing Affairs offers study grants for Malaysian citizens for the Academic Year 2010-2011. The candidates will be selected by the Italian-Malaysian joint Committee, chaired by the First Secretary of the Embassy of Italy.

The Italian Government Scholarship Program, applicable to different fields of study, is offered to Malaysian citizens every year.  The program which started in the academic year 1999/2000 and has granted more than 80 Italian Government Scholarship.

The scholarship can be used to attend the following institutions:

  • Universities
  • Academies of Fine Arts and Conservatories of Music
  • Restoration Schools
  • National Cinema School
  • Research Centres or Laboratories
  • Libraries, Archives, Museums and other public institutions
  • With the exception of the European University Institute (Istituto Universitario Europeo), scholarships can not be granted to attend courses at:
  • Foreign institutions such as universities, academies, libraries, schools of any nature.
  • Private schools or laboratories not officially recognised.

Fields of Study
The scholarships should refer to the following fields:

  • Italian language and literature
  • Arts
  • Music
  • Science and technology
  • Design
  • Economics
  • Management

Eligibility

  • Malaysian citizen
  • All applicants must possess a good knowledge of the Italian language, which will have to be proven by producing relevant certifications as well as through an interview conducted at the Italian Institute of Culture, by a lecturer of Italian at the nearest University or at the Cultural Office of the Italian diplomatic mission with territorial jurisdiction over the candidate’s place of residence.
  • All candidates will need to possess the necessary qualification for the Institution they wish to attend.
  • Age limit: 18-35 years

 
NOTE: Some institutions set special age limits, such as the National Cinema School (Scuola Nazionale di Cinematografia), where the age limit to apply is 27 years. It is therefore advisable to check with the chosen institution whether special age limits apply to enrol in their courses.

Value of Scholarship
Each scholarship consists of return air ticket,Monthly installments in Euro,Health Insurance premiums, Reduction of course fees, where applicable in selected public universities and institutions. The candidates must enquiry at the chosen institution in Italy to check the amount of fees and if any reduction is provided. Please note that scholarships do not provide lodging allowance.

Note: The exact amount of the scholarship will be confirmed by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs at a later stage.
