ASEAN Pre-University One Scholarships 2010

The ASEAN Pre-University One Scholarships is tenable for 2 years leading to the award of the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Advanced (GCE A) Level (or equivalent) certificate. Students who perform well in the GCE A-Level (or equivalent) Examination may apply for the ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarships offered by the National University of Singapore, the Nanyang Technological University or the Singapore Management University.

The Scholarship is for 2 years of Pre-University studies in selected Singapore Junior Colleges and is renewed annually, subject to the satisfactory performance of the scholar. Students from Malaysia who wish to enter Singapore schools at the Pre-University 1 level under the ASEAN Scholarships are welcome to apply for the Pre-University awards.

Eligibility
Students who meet the following criteria are invited to apply for the scholarship:

• Nationals of Malaysia
• Born in 1992 — 1994
• Currently in Form 5 (or equivalent) or have taken the 2009 SPM / GCE O-Level Examination
• Have done consistently well in their school examinations
• Proficiency in English and a good record of participation in extra-curricular activities would be an advantage

Value of Scholarship

• Allowance of S$2,400 per annum with hostel accommodation
• Settling-in allowance of S$500 (once only)
• Economy class air passage (for East Malaysians) or S$50 transport allowance (for West Malaysians) to Singapore and back to home country upon completion of scholarship term
• Waiver of school fees (excluding miscellaneous fees)
• Waiver of GCE A-Level (or equivalent) examination fees (once only, if applicable)
• Subsidised medical benefits and accident insurance cover

Bonding
There is no bond attached to the scholarship

How to Apply
There are 2 modes of application – online or hardcopy application. Each applicant should submit only ONE application. Please do not submit a hardcopy application if you have chosen to apply online and vice versa.

Hardcopy application:
Applicants who do not have internet access may obtain the hardcopy forms from any of the following places:

Alternatively, applicants may also print out a copy of the application form.

All applicants are required to submit certified copies of the following items directly to the Singapore Ministry of Education:

(i) Birth Certificate;
(ii) Identity Card / Passport (if any); and
(iii) Final Year Examination Result Slips for the last two years
