The Alice Smith Scholarships 2010
The Alice Smith Schools Association is offering a limited number of full academic scholarships in 2010 for post-SPM Malaysian students to study for British “A” levels at the Equine Park campus.
The Alice Smith Schools Association is a not-for-profit educational foundation, established in Kuala Lumpur in 1946. It has flourished in Malaysia and educated many thousands of children and it would like to extend its social responsibility into scholarships for Malaysians. The underlying aim of the Alice Smith Scholarships is to benefit bright Malaysian students with limited financial means. In return, the selected scholars will be expected to achieve high levels of excellence in both academic and non-academic fields.
Applicants will be very bright, aiming for an international level of education at a good university, and fulfill all the criteria for entry into the Alice Smith School Sixth Form. As the scholarships are aimed at low-to-middle income families, the family of the applicant must be able to disclose income through tax returns.
The length of each Alice Smith Scholarship will be two-and-a-half years. This is in order to acclimatize the chosen scholars to the British education system and to allow for a two-year “A” level course.
The scholarships will run from January 2010 to June 2012. From January until July 2010, the scholars will join Year 11 (GCSE Year) and take some GCSE examinations in chosen core subjects such as Additional Maths, English, Design and Sciences. They will then progress to the Sixth Form (Years 12 and 13) and take their “A” levels, culminating in June 2012.
